"L'Chaim to Birthright as we celebrate this momentous occasion, l'chaim to my colleagues who made this initiative so great, l'chaim to Israel and l'chaim to all," Birthright Israel co-founder Charles Bronfman said to a  rousing standing ovation at The Jerusalem Post Conference in New York on Sunday as the paper awarded the organization for being the most influential organization in the Jewish world.

Celebrating 18 years, Birthright has brought more than 600,000 Jewish young adults form 67 countries to Israel so they can connect to their roots.
"We were called two stupid rich guys," Bronfman said of his co-founder, Michael Steinhardt . "We went against all the rules. And it worked. From > our very small beginnings, to this incredible achievement, we never thought we'd have this kind of dream."
