Photos of Nazis with red paint were left at the entrance to the Haifa District Health Bureau on the morning of Holocaust Remembrance Day (Tuesday), the Health Ministry stated, in what was described as an offensive act targeting public employees.

According to the ministry, the materials were removed from the scene immediately, and the matter was transferred to the Israel Police after authorities were updated. The bureau continued operating as usual and providing services to the public.

The ministry said the incident was handled without delay and did not interrupt services at the bureau. It did not say who was responsible or whether any suspects had been identified.

The Health Ministry said it viewed any attempt to harm healthcare system employees or intimidate public workers with great severity. It condemned the act as an effort to threaten staff carrying out public service duties.

Rising antisemitism over 80 years after Holocaust

"81 years [after the Holocaust], the world has not fully learned the lessons of the darkest chapter in human history," President Isaac Herzog posted on X/Twitter.

The president warned that antisemitism is on the rise globally, and called on world leaders to act, saying, "Empty words will not cover up inaction...You must fight antisemitism with all means and in every place, before it is too late."
