Acclaimed American indie rockers Grandaddy will be making their Israel debut on March 20 and 21 at the Barby Club in Tel Aviv.Originally one show was scheduled on the 21st but it sold out so quickly after being announced last week that promoter Naranjeh added another show for the apparently more popular than expected band.Formed in 1992 with creative force Jason Lytle at its helm, the California- based band spent years building a cult following before releasing four well-received albums. Combining dreamy guitars with analog synthesizers and keyboards in what The New York Times called “stately anthems orchestrated with full late-psychedelic pomp,” Grandaddy helped bridge the gap between latter-day rockers like The Flaming Lips and Weezer and ’70s classic pop.The band broke up in 2006 but regrouped in 2012 with full lineup intact (Kevin Garcia, Jim Fairchild, Tim Dryden and Aaron Burtch) and renewed energy. Their fifth studio album, Last Place, is being released to coincide with their European tour, which will see them arrive in Tel Aviv.
