President Isaac Herzog praised the US strike on Iranian nuclear sites on Sunday morning.

“In the pages of human history, this is a moment when the principles of liberty, responsibility, and security have triumphed. A decisive moment between the axis of terror and evil and the axis of hope,” Herzog wrote on X/Twitter.

Herzog thanked US President Donald Trump and the US in general.

“This brave step serves the security and safety of the entire free world. I hope it will lead to a better future for the Middle East – and help advance the urgent release of our hostages held in captivity in Gaza,” the president wrote.

Yair Lapid: Nuclear Iran is a threat to the whole world

Leaders of Israel’s opposition also supported the strike.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid said in a statement, “This night is a historic night for the entire Middle East. Thank you to President Trump. Thank you to the United States. A nuclear Iran is a threat to the whole world – tonight, a nuclear arms race in the Middle East was prevented.”

National Unity chairman MK Benny Gantz wrote on X, “The historic US strike in Iran strengthens the security of the world, the Middle East, and Israel. We thank President Trump and the entire American administration for their leadership, determination, and standing alongside Israel – in this campaign in general, and tonight in particular.

“Challenging days still lie ahead. I ask all Israeli citizens to continue following the guidelines. Together, we will get through these days, and together, we will prevail.”

Yair Golan calls for agreement after US strikes on Iran

The Democrats party chairman Yair Golan wrote on X, “The American operation last night against Iran’s nuclear facilities is impressive, important, and justified. A nuclear Iran is unacceptable, and it is good that the United States made that clear – to the entire world.

“And as President Trump wrote: now is the time for peace. For a comprehensive agreement, the release of the hostages, an end to the war, regional normalization, and real security for the citizens of Israel.

“I thank the United States and President Trump for their steadfast stance and brave action. A broad diplomatic front is a foremost Israeli interest. And to the citizens of Israel – complex days lie ahead. Continue to follow the Home Front Command’s safety instructions – they save lives.”

Former prime minister Naftali Bennett, who is widely expected to contend in the next election, wrote, “President of the United States Donald Trump demonstrated the strength of the United States in the face of evil and his uncompromising leadership against a global threat.

“A massive operation with thousands of components reached its peak tonight – from political and security decisions by the government and its head, to the building of intelligence and firepower infrastructure, budget allocations, and thousands of Israelis who worked for years so that we could reach this day.”
