The IDF shot down a Hezbollah drone in southern Lebanon on Sunday, Army Radio's Doron Kadosh reported.
The drone was fired upon after it was observed gathering intelligence on IDF soldiers in the Ali Taher Ridge area, according to the report.
The report noted that the drone was equipped with a camera but was unarmed.
Government considering ban on drone use in Israeli territory
On July 18, N12 News reported that the government is considering a total ban on the use of drones, including those used for civilian purposes such as photography, in Israeli airspace amid growing fears regarding Hezbollah and Iranian attacks.
According to the report, the Security Cabinet recently discussed the issue and shared the defense establishment’s opinion with Knesset ministers.
The potential ban, N12 reported, is being considered due to a lack of effective counter-drone technologies and the possibility that attacks against Israel could involve the increased use of drones by Hezbollah and Iran.
The government is reportedly still considering all options before making a final decision on the matter.
