Knesset to highlight terror offenses on criminal records passes early vote

If the proposal becomes law, it will have all crimes, even minor ones, be highlighted and specially labeled if they were committed in connection to terrorism.

A bill to have terrorism-related crimes be labeled as such on offenders' criminal record passed a preliminary vote Wednesday.
If the proposal becomes law, it will have all crimes, even minor ones, be highlighted and specially labeled if they were committed in connection to terrorism.
In addition, the bill would cancel the statute of limitations on keeping a crime on someone's criminal record if it was related to terrorism.
"The fight against terrorism requires special attention to crimes committed with a nationalist, ideological or religious motive," the bill's explanatory portion reads. "Even if the crime is not one of the more serious ones in the Penal Code, if it is connected to terrorism, those crimes - even more so if they were serious crimes - should be labeled clearly in the police's criminal records."
The bill passed a preliminary reading with 45 MKs in favor and 20 opposed.
