Israel marks Remembrance Day, or Yom Hazikaron, on Wednesday with ceremonies across the country to remember its fallen soldiers. This year, Israel remembers 23,646 fallen soldiers and victims of terror. A two-minute siren at 11 a.m. brings the nation to a halt in remembrance and begins the official memorial ceremony at Mount Herzl Cemetery in Jerusalem. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Rivlin along with a number of other public officials join bereaved families at Israel's national cemetery, where people come to visit the graves of their loved ones.
