Security cameras capture shocking daylight kidnapping in Lod
Police have arrested three men suspected of kidnapping and murdering a man in Lod last month, it was cleared for publication on Wednesday.
In CCTV footage released on Wednesday, the victim, Issa Debabseh, 38, can be seen crossing Histadrut Street in the city at 5:50 a.m. on May 27 and being struck by a white van. The impact throws Debabseh a few meters onto the sidewalk where he stands facing the van. Three men then get out of the vehicle and charge him, beating him savagely in broad daylight for nearly a minute. They then carry him into the van before driving off.
A bystander can be seen watching the kidnapping, but no one comes to Debabseh’s assistance.
The body was found the same night in an open area outside a Palestinian village near Hebron.
The suspects in the kidnapping and murder, all from Israel, are Fares Antili, 32, from the Beduin village of Hura; Ibrahim Abu Asida, 31, from Rehovot; and Isa Asasfah, 34, from Bat Yam.
Police said the investigation has uncovered that Debabseh was involved in a feud with a family from the village of Kafr Yateh near Hebron over a murder that recently took place in the village.
The arrests were made largely because of the discovery of the footage that was shot by a camera affixed to a residential building overlooking the crosswalk where Debabseh was attacked, investigators said.
The three men were brought for a remand extension on Wednesday. Police say they expect all three to be indicted on kidnapping and murder charges in the coming days.
