12 illegal water storage facilities destroyed in Hebron area

The IDF and Civil Administration on Monday demolished 12 water storage facilities in the Hebron area that were being illegally used to irrigate Palestinian agricultural lands. The water was transferred to the facilities by a pirate connection disguised as a pipe belonging to the Mekorot national water company, leading to a drop in water supply for Palestinian and Israeli Hebron residents. Three Palestinians and an Israeli left-wing activist were arrested in disturbances which broke out during Monday's operation. There are estimated to be dozens more such facilities, and there have been discussions about setting up joint Israeli-Palestinian teams to track them down, Israel Radio reported.
