17-year-old Elad Or died on Thursday evening after collapsing during a pre-military training exercise in Rosh Ha'ayin.
According to Army Radio, the boy told his friends while running that he felt unwell and was having trouble breathing. A short time later, he lost consciousness.
The emergency medical team that arrived on the scene attempted to resuscitate him on the way to the Schneider Medical Center in Petah Tikva, but were unable to save the young man's life.
The incident was the third instance of a death during pre-military training in less than four months.
In September, Aharon Zarfati, 17, from Ra'anana, drowned during tryouts for the naval commando unit at the Atlit naval base south of Haifa, while Itai Sharon of Zichron Ya'acov, also 17, died in late August during qualification tests for the IAF pilots' course at a base in the Negev.
