1948 burial sites of five IDF soldiers identified

The burial sites of five IDF soldiers who were killed during the 1948 War of Independence were identified on Sunday. A laboratory analysis showed that the five are buried at Tel Giborim, or "Hero's knoll", the battlefield named after them. The five were killed during operation Chametz, which was launched in order to seize the Arab villages surrounding Jaffa and tighten the blockade of the city. Of nineteen soldiers killed in the battle, seven received anonymous burial in the cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak. Two of those were identified after the battle, but the identities of the remaining five were never revealed.
