Two Israeli border policemen guarding the construction of the security barrier being built around Jerusalem were lightly wounded on Sunday after their jeep was stoned by a group of Palestinians. Police noted that it was the second such incident in the last week.
Policemen fired teargas and stun grenades to disperse the rioters who had gathered in the late afternoon in the outlying Jerusalem Arab village of Anata.
One of the injured policemen was evacuated to Hadassah University Hospital at Mount Scopus, while the other was treated by medics on the scene.
Two jeeps were also damaged in the stoning.
Anata is one of at last five Jerusalem Arab villages slated to fall on the Palestinian side of the barrier when it is completed, much to the dismay and anger of local Arab residents who want to remain on the Israeli side of the barrier.
