Twenty-three people died on the nation's roads in February, and 2,279 people were injured in 1,231 accidents. This was a drop from the 40 killed and 2,550 injured in 1,230 accidents during the same time period in 2005.
Or Yarok, the country's largest private road safety organization, said it was pleased with the drop. according to "A lot of activity has been initiated to prevent those accidents, and the results could be the accumulation of these activities but are not a result of a single action," said Aharon Lapidot, the organization's spokesman.
