Three Palestinians armed with an axe and two large knives were arrested Friday at a security checkpoint at the southern entrance to Jerusalem, police said.
The three suspects, residents of the West Bank city of Bethlehem who range in age from 17-21, told police investigators that they were sent to the crossing to stab Israeli security personnel in exchange for payment, Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said.
It was not immediately clear how much money the three men were promised, or who sent them.
