Acre resident named as country's first female Israeli-Arab professor

Jezreel Valley College lecturer Haula Abu Bakar became the first ever female Israeli-Arab professor in the country on Sunday, following her appointment by the Committee for Higher Education and extensive research in the field of mental health in the Arab sector. The 53 year-old Acre resident has studied the issues of gender, mental health and sexual violence in the Israeli-Arab community and authored the books, On an Unpaved Path, which explores the lives of female Arab political leaders and The Upright Generation, which follows the lives of Palestinian youth in Israel.
