Al-Hayat: Barghouti for Schalit deal agreed

Israel agreed to release senior Tanzim leader Marwan Barghouti in exchange for captured IDF soldier Cpl. Gilad Schalit, Al Hayat, reported on Tuesday. According to the London-based newspaper, Israel refused demands to release Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar and Palestinian terrorist Amna Muna. Barghouti is currently serving five life terms for involvement in terror attacks on Israel. Kuntar is serving a life sentence for the 1982 kidnapping and murder of four Israelis, among them a four-year-old girl. Muna was convicted of luring an Israeli teenager she met in an Internet chat room into Ramallah, where he was ambushed and shot in 2000. According to the report, senior Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal will travel in person to Cairo to seal the deal. The report was not confirmed by any official sources.
