Haifa court gives two Acre residents jail terms of 4.5, 2 years for arson following last year's riots.

An Israeli Arab was sentenced on Monday in the Haifa District Court to four-and-a-half years in prison for trying to burn down a hesder yeshiva in Acre shortly after violent clashes between Arabs and Jews that erupted last Yom Kippur were repressed.
Ibrahim Bayouni, a 30-year-old Acre resident, was charged with hurling a Molotov cocktail and severely damaging the office in the Ru'ah Tzfonit (The Spirit of the North) Yeshiva. His accomplice, 21-year-old Salah Titi, was sentenced to two years in jail.
Each of them was ordered to pay NIS 20,000 to the yeshiva in compensation.
A third 21-year-old Acre resident convicted of aiding the two was expected to be sentenced to community service.
The three were arrested at the end of 2008 and told investigators that they attempted to burn the yeshiva down for nationalistic reasons.
