Ashkenazi: Main challenge to improve IDF readiness

Newly appointed IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi said at his swearing-in ceremony that "the central challenge that stands before us is the improvement of the IDF's operational readiness."
Ashkenazi vowed to implement the lessons learned from the summer's Lebanon war, and said that "we will do all we can and will not be silent until the missing [IDF soldiers] are returned home."
