After several years of decline, Israeli students made a significant improvement in their English matriculation scores in 2005, the Ministry of Education announced on Thursday.
According to the data, the average grade in the most difficult category - 5 points - was up 4.5 points from 81 in previous years to 85.48 in 2005.
In the 4-point matriculation, the average grade leaped almost 10 points (70.44 to 80.07), while the average score of the 3-point students was virtually the same.
