Ayalon highway to become toll road within 1.5 yrs.

"Ayalon highway will be a toll road within the next year and a half, and using them would require paying a fee" the CEO of the company maintaining the highway, Shay Baras, told Army Radio on Wednesday morning.
According to Baras, the intensity of traffic on the main transport route of the Gush Dan area is expected to increase dramatically in the coming years, and the only way to lower the heavy traffic would be by charging a tariff from drivers using the road.
A committee will be set up that would decide whether the entire highway or just a single lane would become a toll road. The decision requires approval by the Transport Ministry and other authorities.
