Beilin asks Majadle to consider cutting Betar funding

Meretz chairman Yossi Beilin has asked Science, Culture, and Sport Minister Ghaleb Majadle to ascertain whether his ministerial authority authorizes him to cancel government funding for the Betar Jerusalem soccer team, as well as prohibit Betar from playing in the Premier League.
Beilin was responding to an incident at Sunday evening's Betar-Maccabi Haifa match in which Betar fans booed during a moment of silence to honor slain prime minister Yitzhak Rabin.
