Meretz party head Yossi Beilin called Saturday for Marwan Bhargouti, head of the Tanzin in the West Bank, to be released from prison.
Beilin said that Bhargouti was one of the key Palestinian figures in the peace process with Israel, Army Radio reported.
Bhargouti won 96 percent of the vote in the Ramallah primaries Friday.
