Child pedestrian safety week starts November 13

A worrisome increase in the number of children injured in road accidents on their way to and from school has induced Beterem (the National Center for Child Safety and Health) to organize a special week for safety awareness for young pedestrians. The events, from November 13 to 18, will include school programs. Research shows that children under the age of nine do not have the ability to assess distance, identify sources of sounds or concentrate when crossing the street - thus they are at high risk of being hit by a car, and need to be accompanied by an adult. More information on activities can be obtained from the organization's Website at www.beterem.org.
