Corner shop closed for selling alcohol to minor

Ashdod police issued a 14-day closure order against the city's Mifgash Hatzomet corner shop on Rehov Haorgim on Friday after youth crimes investigators witnessed a shopkeeper sell beer to a 17-year-old. The owner of the store was summoned to Dept.-Cmdr Danny Algretz's office and arrived together with his attorney. Following the hearing Algretz ruled that the store would be closed for 14 days. A Lachish police spokesman said that the closure was part of recent efforts to reduce youth violence, especially acts perpetrated by teens under the influence of alcohol. The spokesman's office emphasized that they would persist with their efforts without compromise.
