The High Court on Monday ruled that the state must issue its preliminary response to a petition by the Movement for Quality Government, which requested that the court delay the appointment of the new IDF chief of staff, by Friday.
The watchdog group asked in the petition that the appointment be put off until the Winograd Committee on the handling of the summer's war in Lebanon presented its report.
High Court Justice Ayala Proccaccia ruled that the court would discuss the matter no later than February 1.
