Criminal jumps out of courtroom veranda

A Jerusalem man who was sentenced Sunday to 26 months in jail for stealing a car jumped out of a third-floor veranda in a city courtroom immediately after his sentencing was read out, police and court officials said. The man, who had 28 past convictions, was seriously injured in the fall at the Jerusalem District Court. He made the jump seconds after shouting "I will kill myself" and just before court security guards could stop him. He was rushed by Magen David Adom paramedics to Hadassah-University Hospital at Ein Kerem.
