Dalai Lama visiting to promote peace

The Dalai Lama will arrive in Israel on Wednesday for a five-day visit, where he will meet with journalists, representatives of human rights groups, government officials and the Palestinian Holy Land Trust. The visit, his second, is part of his larger initiative to promote peace and discussion worldwide. It is being sponsored by the World Guest program of Mishkenot Sha'ananim, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. "There is no escape from opening dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians on the basis of mutual trust and friendship," he said. "Only in this way is there a chance to solve the conflict." He will make two public appearances. On Friday he will give a lecture at Hangar 11 on "Universal Responsibility" and on Saturday he will hold a session on "Consciousness Training" at Tel Aviv University.
