Defense minister denies any notion of ceasefire with Hamas

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said on Monday that, contrary to media reports, there was no ceasfire being enforced in the Gaza Strip. "It's a continuous operation, and when we'll need to act we will do so," said Barak. The defense minister spoke during a visit to the Tel Hashomer military base. Earlier, the IDF confirmed that the political echelon had ordered it to reduce activity in Gaza. There was little violence in the area in the last 24 hours, and Kassam firing had all but stopped, with just one missile hitting an open field in the western Negev on Sunday.
