Despite agreement to hand over weapons, Aksa's Zubeidi still has a gun

Despite an agreement signed by dozens of Fatah gunmen in the West Bank to hand over their weapons, head of the Aksa Martyrs Brigades in Jenin, Zakariya Zubeidi, still has a handgun, it was reported on Thursday. In July, as part of an effort to boost the standing of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Israel had agreed to stop pursuing some 178 Fatah members in the West Bank if they handed over their weapons and signed a document pledging to refrain from military activities and to abide by the orders of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. However, Israel Radio quoted Zubeidi as saying that although he had handed over his rifle to the PA, he had kept his handgun in case the IDF came to arrest him.
