The High Court of Justice has accepted the Education Ministry's suggestion to cease implementing a long school day in pre-schools and kindergartens.
According to the Ministry, the extent of implementation was never clearly defined. The Ministry also noted that since the beginning of 2004-2005 school year, the implementation of a long school day as approved by the Knesset applied to elementary schools only.
The Ministry intends to formulate new criteria for a long school day in pre-schools within the framework of the existing budget, which totals NIS 30 million.
