The National Planning and Building Council approved a fast tracked process on Tuesday for erecting solar panels on one's roof. No special permit or extra taxes will be required, just a regular permit for small construction jobs. This is the first time that planning and building codes have addressed solar panel construction specifically. "Removing the bureaucracy brings new forces and encouragement to the renewable energy market," National Infrastructures Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said in a statement. "There are now no more excuses - every citizen in Israel can generate clean energy on their roof. Along with approval in the near future of a decision to turn the Negev and Arava into preferred areas for renewable energy, we will continue this revolution to turn Israel into a center for clean energy and to raise its energy independence."
