'Fine imposed on embezzler of survivors' pensions should go to victims'

The NIS 24m fine imposed on lawyer Israel Perry for embezzling German pension funds from Israelis, amongst them holocaust survivors, should be distributed among his victims, MK David Tal (Kadima) demanded Tuesday. "This is utterly absurd," Tal said. "The Finance Ministry is cutting the survivors' stipends and not giving them what they deserve, while a fine of this magnitude for the exploitation of survivors goes straight into the state coffers." Perry, who stole 320 million German marks, was also sentenced to 12 years in prison.
