FM fears Abbas misleading int'l community on Hamas

Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on Thursday expressed her fear of a situation where PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas would present a moderate image of the Palestinian Authority to the international community, while Hamas continues to act according to their current charter. This was, according to Livni, the most dangerous outcome of three scenarios, which she outlined in a Channel 10 interview. The other two possibilities that the foreign minister presented included an optimistic one where Hamas changes its way, comes to love Israel and "we will live happily ever after." She also described a pessimistic forecast, according to which, Hamas would continue to act as a terrorist organization openly, causing Israel and the international community to ostracize the Palestinian Authority. Livni noted that the latter situation was a familiar one, to which we know how to respond, and where we have international support.
