Friedmann, Mazuz agree on A-G selection procedure

Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz and Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann on Tuesday reached a compromise over their dispute as to how to choose the next state attorney. During a late evening meeting between the two, Mazuz agreed that a retired judge would not be included among the members of the search committee whose job it will be to recommend a candidate to the minister of justice. At the same time, Friedmann agreed that the committee will propose only one nominee rather than two or three, as he had previously insisted. Friedmann said he might renew his demand in the future.
