German army chief to meet with Ashkenazi, receive security briefings

As the German government conducted a landmark visit to Israel, the Chief of Staff of the German Army was also visiting on Tuesday as the formal guest of the IDF.
According to an army press release, General Wolfgang Schneiderhan, a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel's delegation, would meet with the IDF Chief of the General Staff, Maj.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi. He was set to receive security and strategic briefings from various military officials and would also be given a helicopter tour of Israel.
