Halutz says he has demonstrated 'responsibility'

Former IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. (res.) Dan Halutz issued a statement Monday after the Winograd Committee of inquiry into the Second Lebanon War published its findings, calling the committee a "milestone" in the investigation of the war and the years leading up to it. Halutz said that until he read the full report, he did not intend to respond to specific conclusions. Halutz said that prior to and during the war, he had been guided by the principles of "truth and honor." He said that he had not waited for the Winograd Committee to demonstrate responsibility, by resigning in the wake of internal investigations into the war he himself had ordered.
