A 30-year-old haredi man who hailed a taxi to go to pray was under arrest Monday for allegedly trying to stab an Arab cab driver in Jerusalem, police said. The cab driver overpowered the would-be attacker, and was unhurt in the Sunday night incident. A border police patrol on the Mount of Olives apprehended the suspect. The suspect, who is apparently psychologically deranged, told police that "his Rabbi commanded him to stab Arabs," Jerusalem police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby said. Police will ask a Jerusalem court to send the suspect for a psychiatric evaluation.
