Hebrew learning channel to air this fall

The Ministry of Immigrant Absorption is launching an interactive television channel to help immigrants learn Hebrew. At a press conference this week, the ministry signed a contract with Effective X, the company that won the bidding to produce the new television channel that will air on Hot and Yes-1. The initial investment is NIS 3 million. Each company will have a channel where families can learn Hebrew at their own pace, with show topics designed to assist people with activities such as going to the bank. "The channel is the acme of the mass program the ministry led to strengthen the [knowledge of the] Hebrew language," said Minister of Immigrant Absorption Ze'ev Boim. "It's a 180-degree change in the known method of teaching Hebrew." The new channels will start airing in October.
