IAF soldier allegedly tried to sabotage F-16

The military police arrested on Monday a soldier at an IAF base in southern Israel on suspicion that the soldier placed pyrotechnic substances used in training exercises in the tailpipe of an F-16 fighter jet. According to Israel Radio, the act was committed approximately six weeks ago. IAF personnel discovered the flammable material during a routine pre-takeoff check of the aircraft and removed it. An IAF official said that even if the material had not been discovered, it would have been ejected at the time of takeoff, and no damage would have resulted to the plane or the pilot.
