The IDF and settlers' representatives engaged in talks Sunday night in order to reach an agreement that would allow the peaceful evacuation of the settlement of Amona in the West Bank.
The Defense Ministry, according to Israel Radio, preferred to avoid clearing outposts until after the upcoming elections, believing that such a move would be extremely taxing.
However, the State has already pledged to the High Court of Justice, that it would remove the community of Amona before the end of January, since it was built on private Palestinian lands.
A possible compromise was suggested, according to which Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz would approve construction within other settlements, provided that the settlers clear Amona.
