IDF officer who attacked activist may be sacked

The IDF commander in Hebron recommended sacking the officer who was filmed shoving his rifle barrel into the chest of a left-wing protester on Wednesday during clashes between troops and activists. According to the army's investigation, soldiers said that the two-hour incident had begun when some 150 Palestinians and activists dismantled an IDF checkpoint. The soldiers claimed that neither police nor civilians had responded to their call for reinforcements. The Judea and Samaria Commander will examine the matter next week, and military police will continue with their investigation.
