The IDF's Police Investigative Department (PID) opened an investigation on Monday into the alleged sabotage of an F-16 jet at the Ramat David IAF base last week by an IDF soldier.
The fault was discovered during a routine check before the plane was scheduled to take off, and an initial investigation revealed that the plane had been deliberately tampered with.
Officials on the base suspected a soldier who had access to the plane. Further interrogation of the soldier connected him to the incident.
The military prosecutor, which was only informed of the incident this week, instructed the PID to look into the affair.
