Iranian state radio says land mine explosion kills 4 soldiers in w. Iran

A land mine has killed four Iranian soldiers near the Iran-Iraq border, Iranian state radio said Sunday. According to the report, the mine exploded under a military vehicle Saturday about 310 miles (500 kilometers) southwest of Teheran. Land mine explosions kill dozens of people each year in Iran. More than 16 million land mines are believed to remain along the Iran-Iraq border, left over from an 8-year war the two fought in the 1980s.
