Israeli bakeries stop baking subsidized bread

Israel's bakeries stopped supplying grocery stores and supermarkets with subsidized bread Sunday morning following the refusal by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor to raise bread prices. Israel bakes half a million loaves of subsidized bread per day. Unsubsidized loaves are being supplied. Bakery owners are demanding that the government allow them to raise prices following a sharp rise in the price of wheat worldwide.
