Police confirmed Sunday night that Jerusalem Affairs Minister Ya'akov Edry (Kadima) had been questioned under warning on Sunday evening after he arrived at police offices to offer a statement regarding a rabbinic courts scandal that broke in the autumn of 2006.
Representatives of the National Fraud Squad said that Edry had first been asked to come and offer a statement, but during questioning, police said, it became "necessary" to question the minister under warning.
Investigators said that Edry is suspected of attempting to receive kickbacks. Edry's questioning lasted a number of hours and ended only in the evening. Police said that the minister cooperated with investigators, and answered all of their questions.
