Katsav's attorneys opposed to closed-door trial

Moshe Katsav's attorneys told the Tel Aviv District Court on Sunday that they were opposed to the prosecution's request to conduct the trial against the former president behind closed doors. Katsav has been charged with two counts of rape, two counts of committing an indecent act, two counts of sexual harassment and one count each of harassing a witness and obstructing justice. Responding to the request that was made in a bid to protect the privacy of the complainants, the attorneys said that the plaintiffs had already forgone such privacy by giving interviews to the media. "Their allegations have hit the headlines - there have been television interviews, extensive articles and color pieces on every channel and every newspaper," they told the court in their response.
