Lieberman advises holding off on new elections

Strategic Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Tuesday morning that elections should not be held in the near future, and that the government should focus instead on implementing the lessons of the Winograd report released on Monday. Speaking to Israel Radio, Lieberman said it was impossible to simultaneously hold elections and fix the deficiencies revealed during the Second Lebanon War. He emphasized that the restraint policy - which, he said, was one of the main reasons for the failure in Lebanon - was continuing in the Gaza Strip and must be stopped immediately.
