Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupolianski is opposed to the reopening of the building that served as PLO headquarters in east Jerusalem, his spokesman said Sunday. "The reopening of Orient House will only serve to create agitation among Arab residents of the city and is an attempt to harm the legitimacy of Israeli sovereignty in the city," Lupolianski spokesman Gidi Schmerling said in a statement. His remarks come just days after Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's newly appointment Palestinian advisor on Jerusalem Affairs Adnan Husseini said that he would try to persuade Israel to reopen the site. The building, which served as PLO headquarters in Jerusalem for more than a decade, was shut down by Israel six years ago, a day after a deadly Palestinian suicide bombing at a Jerusalem pizzeria.
