Mazuz: No legal grounds to prevent same-sex couples from adopting

Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz stated Sunday that there were no legal grounds to prevent same-sex couples from adopting a child, or to stop a person from adopting the child of his or her same-sex partner.
Mazuz's decision came following a special discussion the attorney-general held on the issue recently, which involved representatives of the Welfare and Social Services Ministry and the Justice Ministry. The purpose of the session was to examine the state's position following recent court rulings on the subject.
