UN head hears of Iran smuggling routes, Hizbullah rearmament; meets Peres.

OC Military Intelligence Maj.- Gen. Amos Yadlin met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in Jerusalem on Saturday evening, the IDF said in a statement.
According to the statement, Yadlin told Ban about smuggling routes used by Iran to provide weapons to various terrorist groups in the Middle East. The UN chief also heard about the situation in southern Lebanon and Hizbullah violations of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, as well as about the Iranian nuclear project.
Later Saturday, during a meeting between the UN chief and PresidentShimon Peres, head of the Strategic Planning Directorate, Maj.-Gen.Amir Eshel, was expected to update Ban on IDF cooperation with UN agencies andpeace-keeping forces in the region. Eshel will also inform Peres andBan about the status of the IDF probes of the military's conduct duringOperation Cast Lead.
Two IDF representatives will address the issue of captive soldier Gilad Schalit, held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
On Sunday, at the request of the UN secretary-general, he will meetwith IDF officers that tool part in the rescue efforts in Haiti.
